Rising Star Development Driver, Devan Hall continues to make progress in 2006. Takes the Feature Win in Mobile, Alabama in Pro Late Models competition.

By Rising Star Driver Development/M.P.H. Promotions.

Leesburg, Georgia (08/24/2006):

Rising Star Driver Development pilot and young rising star, 16-year-old Devan Hall, gave fans and teams at the Mobile (AL) International Speedway in Mobile, Alabama a lesson on how to get around the fast _ mile semi-banked paved oval last weekend.

Last Saturday, August 19, 2006, the 16-year-old out of Leesburg, Georgia made the long haul to South Alabama worthwhile by breaking the Pro Late Models track record and then going out and dominating the Feature after taking the lead on lap three from Mike Williamson.

Hall's new track record broke the two month old record of a 17.793 held previously by Steven Davis. The Peach State teenager's new track record was measured at a 17.766.

"This is my third year in pro late models and my eighth year in racing," stated Hall. "We've been running with the Georgia Asphalt Series, and various other tracks around the Southeast. The last time we were here (Mobile) our car was so tight in the center, I couldn't do anything with it," explained Hall.

"We went home and did our homework, and came back with a completely different setup, now it’s working," he added. "We got to the track just hoping for something to go our way after everything we have been through over the past several weeks," continued Hall.
"After practice, we were shocked, the car actually handled "good", something we hadn't experienced in quite a while," remarked Hall. "It actually responded to changes we made on it as well. We ended practice in leisure rather than work since the car was to my liking," stated the Peach State Driver.

As for breaking the track record, Hall didn't realize he did and thought the lap wasn't even that good! "I went out to qualify, and personally the lap didn't feel that good to me, the rpm's were low and I wasn't smooth at all," explained Hall.

"On the first lap, we were ok and would've been better had I not lifted coming out of two. On the second lap, I didn't know if that was a good lap or not and I had no idea of the current track record or even what a real good time was," laughed the Georgia teenager. "When I came in and they said that not only did I get the pole I broke the track record," he added.

After finishing second in the heat race, Hall began the feature on the outside pole. As soon as the green flag was dropped, Hall and the night's second fastest qualifier, Mike Williamson raced side-by-side for the first two orbits.

"We made a shock adjustment to free the car up after the heat race and changed the gear to help me up off the corner," stated Hall. "In the feature I started on the outside pole and got a terrible start but luckily there was a caution and I got another shot at it," Hall added.

On lap three, Hall managed to steer his Rising Star Driver Development Dodge Charger ahead of Williamson. "This time I held my line and drove on the outside of the 44 car for two laps and finally got by him to take the lead. There was no looking back after that," stated Hall.

"I just started taking it easy and hitting smooth laps rather than just trying to knock down fast laps. There were two cautions toward the end of the race, which closed my lead. I was able to hold off any challenges with good restarts," Hall continued.

The Leesburg, Georgia teenager made it look easy in taking his first feature win of the 2006 season by nearly a straightaway over Williamson. "I'm really happy not only because it was a win, but also because it was a major moral boost for both the crew and me," he ended.

So far in the 2006 season, Hall has been running primarily in the Georgia Asphalt Series, where despite limited appearances, ranks 32nd in the points chase. Hall has been driving and competing since he was eight years old.

Born and raised in Leesburg, Georgia, he has already seen much success in his career. He has over 50 trophies from racing including seventeen first place awards and he won the Bandolero Bandits Georgia State Championship in 1999. In 2005, he competed in five Georgia Asphalt Series races with three top ten finishes.
