Michael Annett Now Focusing
on the North VS South All-Star Showdown/All-American 200 at the Music
City (TN) Motorplex
By Rising Star Driver Development/M.P.H.
Promotions
Des Moines, Iowa (10/26/2006):
With his successful rookie season almost in his rear
view mirror, Michael Annett is focusing his efforts on one of the biggest
end of the season special events in the entire United States. The TMC
Racing crew is now preparing to head down to Nashville, Tennessee to
be a part of a Music City tradition.
The entire ASA Late Model Series Presented by GM Performance Parts will be
a part of the 24th annual All-American 400 weekend at the Music City (TN) Motorplex
in Nashville, Tennessee on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday November 3-4-5, 2006.
The ASALMS portion will be dubbed the North VS South All-Star Showdown/All-American
200. Since 1904, the Music City Motorplex in Nashville has been a part of the
auto racing scene. The list of drivers is long and distinguished. The 5/8th's
asphalt track has been a proving ground for drivers for over a century including
the likes of: Buck Baker, Lee Petty, Fireball Roberts, Glen Wood, Coo Coo Marlin,
Bobby Allison, Darrell Waltrip, Sterling Marlin and Chad Chaffin.
" I am really looking forward to Nashville, we have some momentum coming
off of our run at Iowa Speedway and I believe we will be able to carry that into
the weekend in Nashville," stated Annett as his TMC Racing Team prepares
to head South.
" We have had even more time now to get some things in place and get everything
on the car more to our liking and done exactly how we want it," explained
Annett. "With the kind of people we have on the TMC crew, it really makes
it exciting going into a race weekend because I know what we are capable of."
Expectations are high in the TMC Racing Team camp and Annett is excited to
be heading down after his strong third place finish in his inaugural ASALMS
Challenge Division start at the Iowa (IA) Speedway back on October 14, 2006,
close to his hometown of Des Moines, in Newton, Iowa.
An added bonus is that his Crew Chief, John Ferry has already had success in
Nashville earlier this season. The Wheaton, Illinois veteran, Eddie Hoffman
rented a machine from Ferry since his TK Racing car wasn't done in time for
the March 18, 2006 opener in Music City and went on to win the Waffle House
200 Presented by Dollar General!
" John owned the car that won the first race this year at Nashville, so
he has some really good knowledge about the track and that helps me out a lot
having never been there," continued Annett. "I know there will be some
stiff competition and that is good because when we run well it
really shows what kind of team we have and what people can expect from us in
the future.," Annett ended.
During the 2006 season in the ASALMS Northern Division, the Hawkeye State driver
recorded three Top Five finishes with two of those being runner-up showings.
His first podium finish came back on July 14, 2006 at the Motordrome (PA) Speedway
during the NAPA Auto Parts 100.
Annett finished eighth overall in the ASALMS Northern Division and fourth in
the Appleton Rack and Pinions Rookie of the Year title chase despite missing
the final points event at the LaCrosse (WI) Fairgrounds Speedway back during
Oktoberfest Weekend on October 7, 2006,
The 2006 season marked Annett's first season behind the wheel of a race car!
Prior to beginning his racing career this year, Annett was an accomplished
Minor League Hockey Player. Annett began his hockey career as six years old
and retired at the end of the 2004-2005 season after completing the season
with the Waterloo Black Hawks of the United States Hockey League (USHL).
Annett also ran a select schedule of events at the South Boston (VA) Speedway
in a car provided by Barry Beggarly in the tracks NASCAR Dodge Weekly Series
Late Models division.
For the 2006 season, Annett will carry sponsorship on the side of his Ford
Fusion from; TMC Transportation as well as Benson International, Allstate Peterbilt
Group, Rising Star Driver Development, Pilot Travel Centers and Northland Motor
Oil and Lubricants.
