RISING STAR DODSON SETS NTR EN ROUTE TO MANSFIELD HOSS
FINALE WIN
Michelle Petroff for Rising Star Driver Development™
CHICAGO, IL (October 16, 2006)
Cameron Dodson, the newest driver
out of the Rising Star Driver Development™ stable, backed up hype
with an impressive performance at the Hoosier Outlaw Sprint Series’ finale
at Mansfield (OH) Motorsports Park. The 18 year old from Greenfield,
IN, not only won the prestigious race for the third consecutive year;
but also broke the standing track record by nine-tenths of a second.
Warm temperatures and clear skies helped cure the .44-mi paved oval and
made for perfect qualifying conditions. Dodson, piloting the Meyers’-owned
#50m LaJoie of Seating/Weld Wheels/MOPAR/RAM Engineering mount, blistered
Jimmy McCune’s two-year track record with a dynamic 13.251s qualifying
lap.
Dodson quickly overcame a seventh place starting position and grabbed
the lead from McCune and worked traffic like a veteran as he pinned the
majority of the field one lap down en route to his third consecutive “HOSS
Finale” win.
“
I’m happy to set a new track record but getting the win for my
car owners, Dick and Debbie Meyers, and my crew is fantastic. I felt
like our car was able to do things that others were not able to and the
results show it,” added a jubilant Dodson.
Dodson was praised by second place McCune and third place finisher Brian
Lay in victory lane as both drivers commented on how difficult it is
to beat the #50m. McCune and Dodson shared another strong battle for
the lead at Angola (IN) Motor Speedway on Labor Day. Recalling that race,
Cameron noted, “It is always great to race such good racers like
Jimmy (McCune) because they will make you work for it but we respect
one another and can race clean. I had fun out there going wheel-to-wheel
again.”
Dodson’s new partners at Rising Star Driver Development™ were
not surprised by the teen racing sensation’s record-setting performance. “We
knew Cameron was a great driver with a lot of talent when we scouted
him for our program,” said Kurt Smith, co-founder of Rising Star
Driver Development™. “We are thrilled with a win and a track
record in his first race with us. We are extremely proud Cameron and
look forward to a bright future with him.”
Cameron Dodson will make his third appearance in the MB Motorsports’ #63
entry at the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series’ event next week at
Martinsville Speedway. The green flag for the “Kroger 200” will
drop at 12:30 pm EST and air live on SPEED. For all of the latest news
